The first place to start when choosing the right social media portals for your company is to define the goals you would like to accomplish in your social media strategy. This will help outline your social media roadmap.
For example, if you are looking to connect with your customers online and send them quick updates about your company, then Twitter and Facebook would be ideal simply because of its ability to push messages to your community instantly. If you are looking to educate your customers by posting regular articles, then creating a company blog should be your first social media priority. If you have video commercials you would like to publish online, then obviously YouTube would be your preferred portal, and so on.
The next thing to look at is where your audience is most active. This will vary depending on your industry. To help you do this, Emarkable have ranked the top social portals for each industry based on their experiences working with clients. Realistically we apply the 10/90 rule, 10% of your resources should be applied to learning the tools, 90% should be on educating your people.
This is explained in full in our workshops or consultation process.
Our workshops will expand on these issues, to help your company get started with social media, Emarkable has created this Social Media Strategy Workshop that contains best practices, checklists, templates, tools and resources book a consultation.
